  ClickUp Brain is the built-in AI intelligence layer of the project management platform ClickUp. It is not a stand-alone app, but an "AI that can read your work" directly embedded in tasks, documents, dashboards, calendars and chats. It was first put into internal testing under the name "ClickUp AI" at the end of 2023. It will be unified as ClickUp Brain from 2024, and will be rewritten into the new Brain² platform in June 2026. "ClickUp Brain" in the daily table refers to this product family. The latest version of Brain² focuses on "multi-model routing + shared workspace context + Super Agents that can be used as colleagues." Its core value is not to write copy, but to collect the context scattered in more than a dozen tools into one place, allowing AI to answer based on the team's real data rather than pasted fragments. It has to be stacked on top of a paid ClickUp seat, though, and the benefits are highly dependent on the cleanliness of the workspace itself—a source of polarizing ratings.

It can also connect to more than 100 applications such as Google Drive, GitHub, Salesforce, and any MCP service to conduct in-depth searches across tools. The independent Brain MAX desktop and mobile terminals support "Talk-to-Text" voice input. You can verbally ask "Is my PR closed?" or "Make an appointment for me" without opening the main interface. AI Notetaker listens in on Zoom, Teams, and ClickUp meetings and automatically transcribes and refines action items. Super Agents are AI colleagues who exist as "real workspace users" - you can @ it, assign it tasks, schedule it, and let it run multi-step workflows 24/7. It is worth mentioning that ClickUp explicitly promises that customer workspace data will not be used for training or retention by any third-party model.

  Positive feedback focused on "context awareness" and "reducing tool switching." Many reviews mentioned that because the brain directly reads tasks, documents, comments and dashboards, the summaries and questions and answers it gives are more realistic for the team than general chatbots, and cross-tool retrieval (Google Drive, Slack, GitHub, etc.) also reduces information islands. Automated stand-up summaries are a high-frequency value point that is repeatedly mentioned: one team estimates that project managers save 20–25 minutes per day. Super Agents and AI automation allow non-engineers to use natural language to build “always-on AI workers” to handle job dispatch, classification, and status reporting.   Negative feedback was equally concentrated. The overall score given by aitoolsatlas is only 5.5/10. The main reasons are: the quality of AI output relies heavily on the cleanliness of the workspace itself. Confusing tasks and vague descriptions will cause the brain to give misleading summaries that require manual correction; as an overlay plug-in, the cost rises rapidly with scale; in large workspaces with tens of thousands of tasks, the response is occasionally slow and the context is truncated; the custom Agent still needs to repeatedly adjust the prompt words before it can go online. Actual tests by agent-finder (7/10) and bytee both pointed out that the accuracy of the knowledge manager can reach 85%-90% in teams that "use standard tags and custom fields", but in the original state it is only about 70%, and it is easy to miss reviews more than half a year ago; the AI ​​writing quality is approximately equivalent to the ChatGPT-3.5 level, which is competent for internal communication but not enough for direct external publishing.

At the end of 2025, ClickUp successively acquired the enterprise search platform Qatalog (which complements the cross-tool execution skeleton ActionQuery) and the engineering AI agency Codegen (its CEO serves as the head of ClickUp AI). This was interpreted as a structural merger and acquisition around this strategic move, rather than simply riding on the popularity of AI. In terms of benchmarking, Notion AI is strong in long articles and knowledge bases, Monday AI is strong in visual signboard automation, and ClickUp Brain is strong in structured project context and cross-application actions.

Second, strong binding platform: The value of the brain is directly proportional to the depth of the team's adoption of ClickUp. Teams that do not use ClickUp are far less able to use it than an independent assistant. Third, cost superposition: charging AI fees per person in addition to seat fees is a repeated expense for teams that have already purchased other AI tools.
